Hey everyone, I’m Anna from Republic Wireless and today I’m going to take you through the official Republic unboxing of the new Huawei Ascend 5W! The Ascend 5W is the newest addition to our lineup and is just $179, so it definitely won’t break the bank. If you’re looking for a good, budget phone, this might be the right choice for you! Now, let’s see what’s inside the box. Here we’ve got the Huawei Ascend 5W here. You’ll notice it has a premium metal design, which gives it that extra sleek look. On the right side we have the power button and the volume control buttons.
On the Ascend 5W the power button is actually below the volume buttons, which is different from most of our other phone options. Your SIM tray is on the left. It can also hold a microSD card for expandable storage options. On top there is a standard 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, and on the bottom is a micro-USB charging port. You can unlock the device with just the tap of your finger using the convenient fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone.! Now, let’s see what else is in this box. We’ve got the standard manuals, a limited warranty guide and a quick start guide. There’s a SIM card tool tucked in here. And of course, we’ve got the a micro USB cord and a wall charger. So, that’s what’s in the box, now let’s talk about specs! The Huawei Ascend 5W has… A 1.5 gigahertz octacore Snapdragon processor A 5.5-inch HD display, so it’s on par with our other budget phone options in relation to screen size and quality. A 5mp front camera, and a 13mp rear camera with a 4-color RGBW sensor. We’ll talk more about what this means later in the video It’s got 2GB of RAM And 16GB internal storage. And remember, it’s got a microSD card slot where you can add up to 32GB of extra storage for your apps, photos, and videos with an SD card – sold separately. It has a 3000 milliamp hour battery, which should last you the full day.
And finally, it comes with the Android 6.0 operating system, otherwise known as Android Marshmallow, or Android M. In addition, the Ascend 5W has a water repellent nano-coating. This means that the phone is resistant to splashes, but does *not* mean that the phone is waterproof or water resistant, so you’ll want to avoid getting it wet. If you need a hand inserting your SIM card, check out the link below for a quick video tutorial. It’s a little tricky, but we’ll help you out. Now lets check out the User Interface of this phone, also known as the UI. It’s different from our other Android offerings.. Some of the most significant UI differences you’ll notice are the icons are more rounded, and the Settings menu is more condensed. Let’s talk more about the camera! As I said earlier, the Huawei Ascend 5W has a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. With the 4-color RGBW sensor, you’ll get brighter whites and deeper blacks. This means your pictures will be brighter and there will be less color noise in low-light pictures, which is pretty awesome! The camera app has different modes that you can toggle between to enhance your photo-taking experience.
Just tap the little camera icon in the bottom righthand corner. The camera app has the general photo mode, a mode for pictures of good food, and a mode to enhance your selfies. You can also use it to take videos and timelapse videos! This is super cool stuff! And if you want, you can add filters to your photos Thank you so much for watching this unboxing video for the Huawei Ascend 5W!
