Video: Laptop to iPhone Hotspot not working Fixed – iPhone Hotspot not working
Hello everyone it's 'Lurgs' here welcome to my channel I'm here to save you time and money and today are you having problems connecting your Laptop to your personal hotspot on your iPhone? If you've got a slightly older Laptop maybe on an older version of Windows and you've got a modern iPhone sometimes you cannot connect to it, I'll show you a few options on how to fix that, right let's get cracking, and before we get started there's a link above now about how to easily put your Laptop into Airplane mode. This is my older Laptop here and I've been having problems connecting it to my new iPhone so go to your iPhone go to [Settings], the first thing you need to do is put on the [Personal Hotspot] so that we can find it on the Laptop, then go to your Laptop go down to the Wi-Fi settings on the Tskbar and search for my phone, so I've got 'Lurgs iPhone' here and I'm going to click on [Connect] and there's a link above now about how to use the Airdrop facility to transfer photos and videos between iPhones, and it's asking for the Security Key here and this is the password that you type in on your iPhone settings to give access to anyone that wants to access your Personal Hotspot on your iPhone, now I'm just going to try and connect to my iPhone here and what's been happening is every time I try and connect because it's a newer iPhone and it's an older Laptop I keep getting the 'connection was unsuccessful' and there's a link above now about how to take screenshots in Windows 10.
Close this box down and then go to the Taskbar and select the Wi-Fi connections, then Right Click (on Mouse) and that brings up these two options, select the 'Open Network and Sharing Center' and that brings up this menu on your Laptop, as you can see here it's showing the connections of wireless network connection 'Lurgs iPhone', that's the one that we've been trying to connect to and this is where we can change the settings for the connection to this iPhone, so just select the wireless network settings, that brings you up into a new box wireless network connection status, then click on wireless properties and then select the Security tab, now at the moment it's trying to connect to the iPhone with a security type of WPA2-Personal and an encryption type of AES now if you click on the security type drop-down list you will see a list of options for all the different security types, now I won't bore you to death with what all these security types mean you can Google those at your leisure, now to keep the security reasonable you want to select any of the WPA2-Personal downward options, if you can't get any of those to work then what you can do is you can select 'No authentication Open' and an encryption type of None, now of course this does mean that it's not very secure but obviously when you connect to your iPhone you've still got a password on it and in theory you're gonna be sitting right next to your iPhone with your Laptop and nobody's gonna be able to connect to it unless they are sitting right next to you, and there's a link above now about how to transfer voice memos from your iPhone to your Laptop or Computer.
Now if we go back down to the Taskbar and select the Wi-Fi icon and select the 'Lurgs iPhone' again and then click on Connect it will still ask for the password, this is the password that you set on your iPhone and then click on Okay, it's trying to connect… and there we go we've got a connection so we've got Internet access on 'Lurgs iPhone'. So by dropping the security you can actually make a connection, obviously it's not quite as secure but you can get on the Internet, and we'll just check that the Internet is working and on your mobile phone you'll get a Personal Hotspot One Connection with the blue bar along the top, and on the Laptop I'm just going to go to a reasonably well-known YouTube channel and obviously the connection is quite slow because it's going through the iPhone and mine's only a 3G connection, and there we go it's all working great and there's a link above now about how to transfer photos and videos from your iPhone to your Laptop or Personal Computer and don't forget after you've finished using your iPhone make sure you turn the personal hotspot off because it does kill the battery! And after all that hard work it's definitely time for lovely cup of tea.
