Video: Documenting Software Using A Context Diagram
If your every going to talk with someone about a computer system then it's great to have a context diagram. there very simple to produce and help answer questions like; what the system is? Who's using it? and how it fits in? and the whole point is just to make the scope clear, so there are no assumptions and it's great for technical and non-technical people for a starting point for a discussion so, there are some important things you want to note when drawing this kind of diagram you're going to give everything a name and a description and the arrows, they are showing dependencies and not the direction that data is flowing so you can see the customer is dependant on the onlineshop here and we can see the shop is dependant on some sort of payment system you can see we have some suppliers and i've not drawn them all in because it just wouldn't add any additional value you can see we have some accounting software and, a google merchants feed.
