Video: App That Identifies Objects For Blind People
I'm going to show a cool App for the iPhone. This is fun cause it allows me to do what you do on the iPhone and just sort of, you know, waste a little bit of time. (laughs) (iPhone VOX) Slide to unlock. (Tommy) I use the iPhone 4S. Now, the way iPhone works for me is they've got this thing called Voice Over. And it makes it accessible for me so I can use the iPhone just like you do. So when I run my fingers across it, (VOX) Keyboard.
Accessibility. Button. Click. (Tommy) It reads for me what's on the screen. (VOX) Large Text. Zoom. Voice Over. On. Button. Click. (Tommy) So the App I want to show you is a pretty cool one because it practically allows me to see. I just hold the phone up to something, take a picture of it, and it tells me what it is. It's cool. It's called Tap Tap See. (VOX) Tap Tap See. [Click SFX] (Tommy) Now, what I can do is touch the phone [Click SFX] (VOX) Rate Tap Tap See. Button. (VOX) Remind Me Later. Button. (Tommy) You know what? Let's – why don't you remind me later. Okay? [Click SFX] (VOX) Double tap to take a picture of what's in front of you. (Tommy) So let's say I have some trouble with American money. Right? Now, I don't know what this is.
So, I we'll give it to Tap Tap See and see if they can tell me. So we'll put it right down here. Steady… (Tommy) Steady. (VOX)Take picture. Button. (Camera Shutter SFX) (VOX) Picture 3 in progress. (Clock Ticking SFX) (Swoosh Transition) (VOX) Picture 3 is 20 dollars. (Tommy) Pretty cool, right? It tells you just what it is. This is fun come on I'll show you some more. (Music Transition) This will also be helpful for clothing. Like, for example, I don't know if I have a white sock or a black sock. Let's hold it up. See what that is? Okay, you know. Tap Tap See will tell me now. (Camera Shutter SFX) (VOX) Picture 2 in progress. (Swoosh) (VOX) Picture 2 is bright. (Tommy) Picture 2 is bright. So that wasn't far enough away from it I think. So let's get a little bit higher. (Camera Shutter SFX) (VOX) Picture 3 in progress.
(Clock Ticking SFX) (VOX) Picture 3 is white Adidas ankle sock. (Tommy) Gasp! How about that, huh? It's an Adidas sock! (Music transition) So this will also be great for food. Right. So I go into the cabinet. Maybe a long, tough day at the plant. (Laughs) Pull a can of something out here… what the heck is this? See, you guys know what this is now. Me? Nope. Not so much. Our friend is going to tell us what it is. So let's put it down here. (VOX) Double tap to take a picture of what's in front of you. (VOX) Take picture. Button. (Camera Shutter SFX) Picture two in progress. (VOX) Picture two is Healthy Choice chicken noodle. Who needs sighted people? (laughs) (Credits music) (laughs) (Credits music) (VOX) Double — (Camera Shutter SFX) (VOX) Picture 1 in progress. (Beep) (VOX) Picture 1 is 5 dollar bill. (Tommy) Picture 1 is 5 dollar bill.
